Pfeiffer Splits Matches in USA South Volleyball Tri-Match at Mary Baldwin

Staunton, Va. (Oct. 12, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team split a pair of matches at a USA South tri-match hosted by Mary Baldwin University on Saturday afternoon.

In the first match, Pfeiffer downed host Mary Baldwin via a 3-1 (28-26, 25-18,22-25, 25-17) score.

Against the Fighting Squirrels, freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) had 20 kills while sophomore teammate Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.)  achieved another double-double with 11 kills and 17 digs.  Wyatt hit for a .633 percentage and had three block assists and one solo block in the win.

Setter Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) supplied 45 assists in the match.  In addition, she had three aces which currently ranks her tops in the USA South in that category.

Defensively, Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had 30 digs and freshman Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) had four block assists.

In the second match of the day, Pfeiffer fell to N.C. Wesleyan by a 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-14, 9-15) score.

Against the Bishops, four players had double-figure kills with Clouse leading the way with a team-best 16 while Burris had 13.  Wyatt and Keely Sentell (Thomasville, N.C.) each had 10, which for Sentell is a career high. Clouse also led the way defensively for Pfeiffer with 23 digs.

Fardella managed 47 assists, which is a career high while making 10 digs.

With the split, Pfeiffer now stands at 12-8 overall and 3-5 in USA South play.P
